Kyleakin is an ideal central location to visit all the attractions in and around the Isle of Skye, with hill walking, climbing, fishing, shooting, golfing, horse riding, sailing and canoeing all of which are a short drive from Crannog Lodge.

Kyleakin is the first village you enter when travelling onto the Isle of Skye. Crossing over from the mainland by the (over-the-sea) toll-free Skye Bridge. Kyleakin has a smart coffee bar; two restaurants, two hotels and three public bars all offering various beers and spirits and good meals. There is also a small village store and sub-post office.

A ten minute walk or a five minute drive back across the Skye Bridge takes you into Kyle of Lochalsh, which has two large supermarkets where provisions can be purchased; a similar number of hotels, bars and restaurants, two banks and a main post office, marina and harbour facilities.

Apart from the spectacular panoramic views enjoyed from Crannog Lodge of the Kyleakin Marina, Castle Moil, Loch Duich, Loch Alsh, Kyle Narrows and the Skye Bridge, the surrounding area offers the peaceful tranquility of the Isle of Skye's mountains, rivers, waterfalls, sea lochs and the glens.
